Phone Number Verification via WhatsApp Now Available for Voucher Link Access
To strengthen the security of open-loop e-vouchers and eGroup vouchers, users are now able to verify their phone number via WhatsApp before accessing and redeeming their voucher. This verification ensures that only the intended recipient can redeem the voucher, while also making the process faster and easier.
What's Changing?
Previously, users received a PIN via SMS, which they had to manually enter on the voucher link page. This created friction during the redemption process.
Now, we’ve introduced the Tada Verification WhatsApp Chatbot to handle your verification requests and simplify the process of accessing your e-voucher links:
- Users receive the voucher link via SMS or WhatsApp.
- To access the voucher, users must verify their phone number via WhatsApp.
- The verification is handled automatically via a pre-filled message sent to the Tada Verification Chatbot
No WhatsApp? Users can still request a PIN via SMS as a fallback.
How It Works
- Receive the Voucher LinkThe user gets the voucher link via SMS or WhatsApp.
- Phone VerificationClicking the link leads to a verification page.
- Verify via WhatsAppUsers send a pre-generated message to the Tada Chatbot. The chatbot verifies that the request matches the phone number that received the voucher.
- Verification SuccessIf successful, the user receives a one-time-use voucher redemption link.
- Voucher RedemptionOnce verified, the user can then view and redeem the voucher.
Security Features to Prevent Abuse
- Same-Browser & Same-Session Enforcement: The voucher link works only within the same browser session to prevent sharing or abuse.
- One-Time Use Link: Each verified link can only be used once.
- Message Expiry: If the pre-filled message is not sent within 5 minutes, it expires. Users must restart the process.
What This Means
- Stronger Security. Ensures only the intended recipient can redeem the voucher, minimizing fraud.
- Faster, Simpler Process. No need to copy-paste PINs. Users can just tap to verify and redeem.
- Boost Redemption Rates. With fewer steps and simpler processes, users are more likely to complete redemption.
